Functional training means exactly what it says- training your body through
movements that you experience in everyday life. If you strengthen your body
through practical planes of motion, than you are less likely to injure yourself
when you actually use those planes of motion daily. One example is picking
up a grocery bag. It is not practical for you to isolate your biceps, and use
those only to carry the bag- many muscle are used, from your legs, core, back,
shoulders and arms. By training functionally, you can make your muscles
work together, in unison, to complete a task. That is why I also train balance,
flexibility, and strength together, along with cardio, to try and make a complete
workout each time. Sometimes, you need to isolate your muscle to try and
force it to reach it's fullest potential. Other times, they need to be worked in
relation to other muscles, in order to work properly together. So you see, one
type of workout is NOT enough- your muscles need to be constantly
challenged!
I also like to incorporate HIT (High Intensity Training) into my workouts, in order to increase your
fat-burning potential. Numerous studies have shown that by using interval training (switching
between "regular" training and high, short bursts of cardio), that you burn more calories in your
workout than if you only work a continuous cardio, or strength training session. I like to use circuit
training and supersets, which is a continuous working out with weights, doing sets (usually using
opposite muscle groups), without resting, in order to keep your heart rate up.
Every workout is different, just as every person, and their goals, are different! I am always evaluating
my clients, and their goals, in order to help them reach those goals quickly and efficiently, because to
me, you are not a just a person to work out, you are a person with specific desires, abilities and goals,
and it is my PASSION and PLEASURE to help you to reach your highest potential, not only in fitness,
but to let it carry over to every aspect of your life!

being healthy and fit, which is why I am so passionate about it! If you are not healthy, everything in
your life suffers, so don't you owe it to your body to take care of it better, so it can treat you better?

lengthening of it! We are, sadly, in a time where the average American is not even close to being in
shape, but instead are obese and getting fatter everyday. This increases the risk of heart disease,
cancer, diabetes, and numerous other problems that are unnecessary and avoidable! I not only design
workouts for you, but help guide you through the nutritional jungle of the modern American diet.
